Iranian American Community Center
IACC was formed in 2010 with the vision of creating an Iranian American Community Center in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. The goal of the group is twofold – to help strengthen the local Iranian American community and to launch a community based capital campaign to help fund the construction of the center.
Mr. Fred Aryan is a a co-founder of LaserShip, Inc., the largest regional small parcel delivery company on the east coast. Mr. Aryan is active in the delivery industry’s issues and organizations, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Customized Logistics and Delivery Association (CLDA). Outside of business, Mr. Aryan’s expresses his passion for life as an avid runner, having successfully trained for and completed both the Richmond and New York Marathons.
Mrs. Bita Golshan Lotfi earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Dayton in 1998. Ms. Lotfi is admitted to the bar in the state of Illinois and District of Columbia, and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Ms. Lotfi serves on a committee that organized a “Shabeh Yalda” event that attracted 600 attendees, regularly conducts Nowruz celebrations at local elementary schools, organizes and supports Iranian dance classes for children in the Northern Virginia area and is committed to sharing the rich and deep Iranian culture with non native Iranians through such programs.
Ms. Termeh Rassi has been a member of the Iranian American Community in the Washington DC area since 1984. In 1994 she co-founded Second Generation, the first English language newsletter for the new generation of Iranian Americans. Ms. Rassi holds a BA in International Relations from George Washington University and an MA in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University. Over the past 20 years, she has worked in product development and market strategy roles at a number of organizations such as AOL and Sallie Mae. She is the principal at The Rassi Group, a strategy consulting firm.
Mrs. Mandana Dehghanian Shahriari has been on the Board of IACC since December 2010. As a Zoroastrian, she is very devoted to keeping the Persian traditions alive for the coming generations. She has a MBA in Management Information Systems from the George Washington University, and has worked as a Senior Information Management Officer at the International Monetary Fund for over 23 years.
Kevin Alexander Soltany (Alex) is a 12th grade honor student at St. Albans School in Washington, DC. He is an avid piano player and has two younger sisters. Alex is very involved in the St. Albans community and was selected by the school to be an ambassador. In addition his activities include the school newspaper, Government Club, and Madrigal singers (an a capella chorus group), the cross-country and varsity tennis teams. Alex is a founding youth board member of SOS4Cancer, a non-profit organization that assists kids, specifically teens, that are fighting cancer. As teen representative for the IACC, one of Alex’s goals is to create new, exciting youth-related programs that will spark interest in the Iranian culture.
Dr. Forough Parvizian-Yazdani is a graduate of George Washington University and received her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs. Dr. Yazdani went on to Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery where she earned a DDS degree. Dr. Yazdani practices in a private practice in Vienna, VA and is an active member of the Metro Washington DC Iranian-American community, often hosting events at her home. She served on the Smithsonian’s Nowruz Organizing Committee in 2008 & 2009. She also serves on the Board of NIAC (National Iranian-American Council) and actively promotes civic participation in the Iranian-American community.
